Elders Voice is a small, local charity that has been supporting older people in the London Borough of Brent since 1993. We provide practical support and social opportunities to people ranging in age from 55 years and upwards, and our services are as varied as the people who use them.
Our objectives are to:
Help prevent accidents in the home and keep older people safe, by providing a Handyperson service that carries out small handiwork.
Help improve older people’s physical & mental health and prevent loneliness, by offering a range of wellbeing activities.
Enrich the present moment for older people with dementia and provide respite to carers, through our Day Centres and memory projects.
Bridge the generational divide by bringing together different age groups as often as possible.
Amplify the voices of older people so they can share their stories and influence the development of the services they use.
Our Vision.
To make ageing a wonderful and worthwhile journey for older people in Brent.
Our Mission.
Everything we do is geared towards enabling older people to live independently for longer in the homes of their choosing, and lead healthier & happier lives.
Est. Since 1993.
Elders Voice grew out of an organisation called Pensioners Link, which was started in 1993. Pensioners Link was a self-help group run by older people for older people providing practical help, advice and information. Its members were driven by the belief that older people should be treated as individuals, rather than a homogeneous mass. Their guiding principle, which we stand upon to this day, is that older people are not a burden; they have lived rich and diverse lives and their experience of getting older is unique to each and everyone of them.
Trustees.
Our Board of Trustees volunteer their time to support Elders Voice in succeeding as an organisation. The Board has independent control and legal responsibility over how Elders Voice is run – it ensures the charity acts in line with its overarching purpose, spends resources wisely and acts reasonably in accordance with the law.
