Volunteer Leafletters.
We are seeking Volunteer Leafletters to help us spread the word and ensure older people in Brent are aware of our services and activities. If you consider yourself sociable and enjoy chatting to others, this could be the opportunity for you!
When: A weekday of your choice, for a couple of hours between 11am-3pm Where: Local high streets in Brent (Kensal Rise, Harlesden, Willesden, Queen’s Park & Kilburn)
What’s involved:
You will attend an induction at Elders Voice to learn about our charity and the work we do, so you feel confident talking about our services and activities to older people in Brent.
Once a week, you will collect leaflets from our office in Kensal Green and head to a local high street to hand them out to older people.
Occasionally you may be stationed at a library or supermarket.
You will check-in regularly with our Operations Manager, so we know how you are getting on.
You will share any feedback or insights you gain on how we can promote our services and activities more effectively.
You will be great for the role if:
You enjoy chatting to new people
You feel confident relaying information to others
You are reliable, trustworthy and friendly
Volunteer Handypersons.
We are seeking Volunteer Handypersons to support our Handyperson Service team with carrying out handiwork in the homes of older people in Brent. You may be a self-employed handyperson or tradesperson who has one day a week to spare, or a retired handyperson or tradesperson who is looking for a volunteer opportunity.
When: Either Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays from 9am-5pm Where: Households across Brent (meeting point Harlesden)
What’s involved:
You will provide secondary support to our handypersons, who carry out a variety of jobs such as installing grab rails, fixing leaky taps, changing light bulbs, hanging curtains and much more.
You will chat to the older people whose homes you are visiting, ensuring they are well and safe.
You will inform our Handyperson Service clients about our other services and activities.
You will be great for the role if:
You are a qualified tradesperson
You have extensive handiwork experience
You are patient, kind and enjoy working with older people
