Handyperson Service

Handyperson Service

The Handyperson Service aims to prevent accidents in the home and enable older people to live safely and independently. The service carries out basic repairs and improvements, and the installation of small equipment such as grab rails, which support mobility. The team can also recommend other adaptations that may improve a client’s quality of life, health and wellbeing.

“I have avoided several falls and feel more confident walking in the house. The service is excellent and a godsend to older people.” – Handyperson Service client

We offer a variety of jobs including but not limited to:

  • Moving furniture within the home
  • Fitting key safes
  • Securing loose carpets and other floor coverings
  • Fitting grab rails and banister rails
  • Fitting smoke alarms
  • Changing light bulbs and fluorescent strips
  • Putting up shelving
  • Fitting locks, bolts and peepholes
  • Hanging curtains and blinds
  • Simple carpentry work
  • Simple plumbing work

This service is part funded by Brent Council. The team will purchase materials for those who are housebound and do not have any other means of supplying the required materials. Clients will pay for materials used and a small labour cost, which ranges from £2.50 – £10 per job.

“When the Handyperson Service answers a desperate call for help, on many occasions our clients have been left with unfinished and unsafe repairs, and even the burden of a financial loss caused by rogue traders. So it’s great that with our team’s years of knowledge and experience, we can fix bad repairs, offer guidance and advice, and provide unique and effective solutions to many practical problems.” – Livio Coccia, Handyperson
