Elders Voice is a forward thinking and caring organisation based in the London Borough of Brent, committed to improving the lives of older people. We are fortunate to have a small team of volunteers who support us in delivering our services but there is much work to be done, and we are always on the look out for more! Floating Support Volunteer
The Floating Support Team help older people in Brent with benefit entitlements, housing repairs, moving home, debt management, home safety & security and enjoying an active social life. We are looking for volunteers to support the team, by visiting clients in their home and helping them complete Dial-a-Ride and Blue Badge application forms. Responsibilities may also include bidding for properties online and other administrative tasks. Floating Support Volunteers would ideally be able to commit to a minimum of four hours a week, Monday – Friday.
Computer Class Volunteer
Elders Voice runs a free, weekly computer class for older people in Brent. We are looking for volunteers to support the Computer Class Facilitator with: setting-up and/or packing away equipment, serving refreshments and teaching older people how to send & receive emails, shop online and use social media. Computer Class Volunteers would ideally be able to commit to a minimum of two hours a week, between 12pm-3pm on Wednesdays.
Dementia Café Volunteer
Elders Voice runs two dementia cafés for people with dementia and their families/carers. We are looking for volunteers to support the Dementia Café Project Manager with: setting-up the cafés, serving refreshments, spending time with clients and encouraging them to take part in activities. Dementia Café Volunteers would ideally be able to commit to a minimum of three hours a week between 1pm-4.30pm on Wednesdays in Kingsbury and/or three hours a week between 10am-2pm in Kensal Green.
Older & Prouder LGBT+ Volunteer
Older & Prouder is a brand new service for LGBT+ older people in Brent. We are looking for volunteers to support us with: setting-up & running weekly coffee mornings and monthly social evenings. We are looking for Volunteer Gardeners to help maintain our dementia friendly garden. This will include planting, pruning, weeding & watering and supervising Day Centre members who wish to take part. Volunteer Gardeners would ideally be able to commit to one to two hours a week on Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays.
We are looking for committed individuals to expand the range of Trustee skills as well as to consolidate existing skills on our Board. We require dynamic and motivated people who want to contribute actively to the Board by giving strategic direction; setting overall policy; defining goals and setting targets; evaluating performance; ensuring the charity’s effective and efficient administration; and ensuring financial stability. Trustees are expected to: attend up to ten meetings a year plus an Annual General Meeting, contribute advice and support on an ad hoc basis, and attend events. Our Board meetings currently take place every six weeks on Wednesdays from 6pm-7.30pm.
