Older & Prouder LGBT+ Service
Older & Prouder is a service run by Elders Voice, for older LGBT+ people in the London Borough of Brent. The aim of the service is to give users the opportunity to socialise and take part in weekly & monthly activities, to build a welcoming community and create a sense of belonging amongst older LGBT+ people in the area.
You can participate as much or as little as you like, in a variety of different ways…
Proud Coffee is a coffee afternoon that takes place every Wednesday from 2.30pm-4pm. It’s a great place to meet other older LGBT+ people in the area, form new friendships and chat over coffee in a safe and welcoming environment.
Monthly Socials are bigger events where people can get together for more dedicated sessions or outings. This could be trips to the cinema, theatre, art galleries or museums, information & advice sessions and workshops about specific interests.
Thursday 2nd April 2020
Join us for a free screening of A Fantastic Woman at The Lexi Cinema on Thursday 2nd April 2020 at 3pm. A Fantastic Woman is an inspiring and psychologically astute film about nightclub singer Marina, whose life is thrown into turmoil following the death of her partner. Mourning the loss of the man she loved, she finds herself under intense scrutiny from those with no regard for her privacy.
Hailed by the Guardian as “a sublime study of love, loss and the trans experience”.
To book your place, please call Rachel on: 0208 206 7502.
This is the second in a series of films, brought to you by Older & Prouder and The Lexi Cinema, that focus on and celebrate the lives of the LGBT+ community on screen.
Telephone Befriending will be available to users who are unable to attend the events, due to various reasons such as mobility issues. We believe everyone should be included and the telephone befriending service aims to reach socially isolated people on a monthly basis.
Lastly, we want these conversations, meet-ups and circles to carry on outside of Older & Prouder. We think it is important to help people form friendship groups in order to build an older and prouder community – celebrating older LGBT+ people in all ways. Why not get a group together and go for a walk, visit an art exhibition or even a drag show!
