We have secured funding to deliver weekly computer classes at our Centre in Kensal Green for one year. Participants can expect to learn how to set-up an email address, browse safely on the web, create documents, use social media and Skype & Instant Messenger to stay in touch with loved ones.
The aim of this service is to prevent social isolation in the community, teach older people new skills, and equip them with the tools they need to support themselves in an innovative way. If an older person struggles with mobility, learning how to order their supermarket shop online and have it delivered to their door, could save them wrestling with heavy shopping bags each week.
Often older people are gifted with computers, iPads and smartphones by their relatives, but feel unable to use them with confidence. So although laptops will be provided at the classes, participants are welcome to bring their own devices if they prefer.
The classes will be led by Marina Gustov, the charity’s much loved Zumba Gold instructor who also has extensive experience with computers. Classes take place on Wednesdays at 1pm-2pm and are free to attend. Address: Elders Voice, 181 Mortimer Road, Kensal Green, NW10 5TN. Download the Computer Classes leaflet here.
To book your place please contact Anna Southwood, Office Administrator on 0208 968 8170 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. This service is supported by the Santander Foundation.
