Day Centres

Day Centres

The Elders Voice Day Centre is a place that supports positive ageing and focusses on improving the physical and mental wellbeing of the individuals that attend.

Since opening, we have explored many different activities with our clients. We have improved our balance with yoga, learnt how to make nutritional meals, and danced to our favourite music. We have treated ourselves to something sweet in biscuit decorating sessions, and indulged our competitive side with games of ten pin bowling and tin can alley. We have discovered the therapeutic effects of painting, drawing and jewellery making. Museums have visited the centre and taken us on a trip down memory lane. We have enjoyed the benefits of pet therapy with visits from furry friends, and forged bonds with local school children whilst taking part in intergenerational projects. Fond memories have surfaced as we sang old songs together, and sometimes entertainers would perform old songs to us. National holidays and religious festivals have given us an opportunity to explore our different cultures and celebrate our diversity. In the warmer months we have sunned ourselves in the garden, planted bulbs and watered the flower beds. Sometimes we took part in a quiz or simply sat and chatted.

No matter what the adventure or who the adventurer, the Day Centre has fought hard against the outmoded and the institution. Older people in Brent deserve our best and that is what we aim to give them!

“It’s great to be open again after such a long time. Seeing people in the flesh, enjoying spontaneous moments and having a blast doing different activities. Myself and the team are truly grateful to be back doing what we do best!” – Lynn Burling, Wellbeing Manager

Respite for Carers

The Elders Voice Day Centre not only provides a change of scene for older people in Brent but also much needed respite for carers. Whether you enroll your loved one once, twice or three times a week, we guarantee they will be in safe hands whilst you are able to focus on your day job, work through your to-do list or enjoy some “me time”.

“The Day Centre is a godsend to many people. You can leave your loved one in their care and have a few hours for yourself. It is safe place for people with dementia and the staff are vert caring.” – Daughter & carer of Day Centre client

Eligibility, Open Hours & Cost

The Day Centre is able to support individuals with low-medium social care needs. Prospective clients will initially be assessed over the phone and then invited to a trial session to see whether the Day Centre meets their needs.

The Day Centre is currently open on Mondays from 12.30pm-4pm, Tuesdays from 11.30am-3pm and Thursdays from 12.30pm-4pm. A session costs £45 which includes tea, coffee & biscuits. Clients are welcome to bring their own packed lunches.

We can support individuals who have been assessed by Brent Adult Social Care as being in substantial or critical need and thus eligible to access our services. We also offer self-funded placements to older people who have not been deemed eligible through Adult Social Care, or who are happy to pay without being assessed.
